Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leak Reveals Groundbreaking Camera System: 1-Inch LOFIC Sensor and 200MP Periscope

New details have surfaced regarding the camera specifications for the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and they point towards a significant leap in mobile photography technology. According to prominent leaker Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi's next flagship is set to feature a cutting-edge camera array that could redefine smartphone imaging standards.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra

The centerpiece of this new system is a 1-inch main camera sensor equipped with LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology. This marks a substantial upgrade from the LYT-900 sensor found in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. LOFIC technology is designed to dramatically enhance dynamic range by preventing overexposure in bright areas of a photo. It works by capturing and storing excess light information that would normally be clipped, resulting in images with more detail in both highlights and shadows.

The telephoto capabilities are also receiving a massive boost. The leak suggests the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will boast a periscope telephoto camera with an astonishing resolution of approximately 200 megapixels. Furthermore, the sensor for this telephoto lens is said to be larger than its predecessor. For context, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra used a 50MP IMX858 sensor (1/2.51-inch), so this upgrade promises a remarkable improvement in zoom clarity, detail, and low-light performance.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra

Beyond the revolutionary camera hardware, other leaked specifications paint a picture of a true top-tier flagship. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to be powered by the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. Its display is rumored to be a 2K resolution "equal-depth" micro-curved screen, complemented by a single-point ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for fast and secure unlocking.

Other premium features reportedly include a high-density silicon anode battery for extended life, a custom high-strength titanium alloy middle frame for enhanced durability, and comprehensive support for satellite connectivity. These components combine to position the device as an all-encompassing powerhouse.
