AOC AGON Reportedly Planning a 1000Hz Gaming Monitor for 2026

The gaming monitor market may be poised for another significant leap in performance. According to a report from channel source Vision Hall on October 31, AOC's gaming brand, AGON, is planning to launch a series of new high-specification monitors in 2026. The most notable product in this leaked roadmap is an esports display purported to reach an astonishing 1000Hz refresh rate.

The leak details six new monitor specifications planned for the 2026 AGON lineup, showcasing a major push in both resolution and speed. Among the reveals is a 27-inch model with a dual-mode resolution of 5120×2880 at 165Hz or 2560×1440 at 330Hz. Another 27-inch 4K model (3840×2160) is slated to run at 160Hz and will feature AI-powered adjustments for in-game visual effects. The lineup also includes a 24.1-inch monitor with a 400Hz TN LCD panel.

The highlight of the leak is a 27-inch monitor that reportedly offers a dual-mode refresh rate: 2560×1440 at 500Hz, which can be switched to 1920×1080 at an incredible 1000Hz. This development signals a new frontier for motion clarity and responsiveness in competitive gaming, aiming to provide an unprecedented level of smoothness for professional players and enthusiasts.

However, there is an important technical consideration regarding the 1000Hz mode. The original source notes that Dual-Mode Refresh Rate (DFR) technology in monitors typically adjusts resolution in integer multiples. This suggests that the 1000Hz refresh rate on the leaked model is more likely to be achieved at HD (1280×720) resolution rather than the listed FHD (1920×1080) resolution. This would be a trade-off between visual fidelity and raw speed.

Another fascinating product in the leaked roadmap is a different 27-inch, 2560×1440 monitor running at 360Hz. This model is said to incorporate NVIDIA's G-SYNC Pulsar technology, which aims to deliver an effective motion clarity equivalent to 1000Hz. This approach focuses on reducing motion blur to achieve the perceptual benefits of a higher refresh rate without needing to render as many frames per second.
