Apple's 2025 Roadmap Leaks: A Triple-Range AirTag 2 and a New Red HomePod mini?

New details about Apple's potential 2025 product lineup have surfaced, pointing towards significant upgrades for some of its popular accessories. According to information shared by X (formerly Twitter) user Kosutami, a source known for leaking details on unreleased Apple products, the company is actively developing a second-generation AirTag and testing a new color variant for the HomePod mini.

The most exciting development centers on the next-generation AirTag, reportedly carrying the internal codename “U5B.” The standout feature of this new tracker is said to be a completely upgraded chip. This enhancement is expected to provide significantly stronger positioning capabilities and, most notably, a tracking range that is three times greater than the current model. This would represent a major leap in functionality for the device.

The release timeline for the AirTag 2 is tentatively set for 2025. Kosutami suggests that its launch could coincide with the release of the next-generation iPhone SE 4, potentially creating a combined product refresh cycle. This timing aligns with previous predictions from another reputable source in the Apple supply chain.

Famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also previously forecasted that the AirTag 2 would enter mass production in 2025. Kuo believes the new tracker will feature deeper integration with the Apple Vision Pro headset, positioning it as a crucial component within Apple’s expanding spatial computing ecosystem. This suggests the AirTag 2 could play a more significant role than just item tracking.

In addition to the AirTag 2, the leak also mentions a refresh for the HomePod mini. According to the report, Apple is currently testing a new red color option for its compact smart speaker. While a specific release date has not been determined, this would add a new choice to the existing color lineup, which currently includes Space Gray, Blue, Orange, Yellow, and White.

While these potential upgrades are certainly exciting for Apple enthusiasts, it is important to approach this information with caution. The source's track record is not flawless, and these details remain unconfirmed by Apple. Therefore, these leaks should be viewed as an early glimpse into what might be on the horizon, pending an official announcement from the company.
