Dyson Shrinks its Bladeless Tech: Introducing the $99 HushJet Mini Cool Handheld Fan

Nearly 17 years after first introducing its revolutionary Air Multiplier technology, Dyson has miniaturized its iconic design to create the HushJet Mini Cool, a handheld personal fan. This new device brings the company's signature bladeless cooling to a portable, on-the-go format.

Staying true to Dyson's core principles, the HushJet Mini Cool has no exposed rotating blades, making it inherently safe. This is a critical feature for a handheld product, as it prevents any risk of injury to fingers or entanglement with clothes and accessories. Much like the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, all moving components are safely concealed inside the device's body.

Despite its compact size, the HushJet Mini Cool is impressively powerful. It houses a 65,000 RPM brushless DC motor that produces a strong airflow of up to 55 mph (approximately 88.5 km/h). The speed can be adjusted to a lower setting for quieter operation and to conserve battery life. The fan is equipped with a 5,000mAh rechargeable battery, offering up to 6 hours of continuous use. Noise levels range from 52 decibels on the lowest setting—similar to a floor fan—to 72.5 decibels on its highest mode.

All the technology, including the motor and battery, is engineered into a slim, 38mm diameter cylindrical body. This form factor is consistent with other compact Dyson products and is even more slender than a can of Red Bull. The top of the fan features a pivoting air outlet that allows users to direct airflow straight up or at an angle. Its unique shape is also acoustically designed to dampen high-frequency noise, resulting in a softer and less intrusive sound.

The HushJet Mini Cool will be available starting April 9th for $99. The launch color is Stone/Light Pink. Dyson will introduce additional colorways in the coming months, with an Onyx Red/Sky Blue version in May and an Ink/Cobalt Blue model in June.

The initial package includes a charger, a stand for easy desktop placement, and a lanyard for hands-free use around the neck. Looking ahead, Dyson plans to expand the ecosystem with more accessories in the summer, including a stroller mount and a clip for attaching the fan to bag straps or clothing.
