Google Pixel 10 to Get Magic Cue and Magnetic Charging Feature

Google Pixel 10 Magic Cue feature

Google is expected to introduce the Pixel 10 series on August 20. According to leaks so far, these phones are expected to resemble last year's models closely. However, there will be significant updates on the hardware side. The Tensor G5 chipset, which will power the series, will be manufactured by TSMC for the first time, instead of Samsung. This could bring significant improvements in performance and battery life. It is also stated that a gimbal-like camera stabilization system will be added to the devices.

Pixel 10 to come with Magic Cue

Shortly before the launch of the Google Pixel 10, a report on Telegram reveals that it will launch with a feature called Magic Cue, as 9to5Google explains. This innovative feature helps you save a lot of time by filtering your apps for information that's relevant to you.

A screenshot of the official notes on the new feature posted by the leaker also provides a very specific example: "If you […] ask for your flight number in a chat, Magic Cue can find it in your Gmail account – saving you the trouble of searching."

For this to work, Magic Cue needs to be able to access the following apps:

  • Google Calendar
  • Google Chrome
  • Google Contacts
  • Google Docs
  • Google Files
  • GMail
  • Google Keep
  • Google Maps
  • Google Messages
  • Google Phone
  • Google Photos
  • Aurelius (previously unknown Google app)
  • Google Recorder
  • Pixel Screenshots
  • Google Wallet
  • YouTube
  • YouTube Music

This mass of apps and data combined will certainly achieve a great deal. Incidentally, this AI assistant was previously known as Pixel Sense and was supposed to be introduced to the Pixel 9 smartphones last year as the smart AI assistant Pixie. However, the latter release was canceled due to the focus on Gemini.

Qi 2.2 wireless charging support and new accessories are coming

According to a new report, the Pixel 10 series will support Qi 2.2 wireless charging powered by magnets, similar to the iPhones. Google has even filed a trademark for these magnetic accessories called “Pixelsnap.”

There are rumors that three Pixelsnap accessories will be introduced at launch: a magnetic charger, a stand charger, and an accessory called the "Ring Stand." The charger will only charge, while the Ring Stand will only act as a stand and will not have charging capabilities.

Pixel phones can turn into smart displays when charging with the Pixelsnap charger (or any Qi2-compatible charger), as Google is working to bring Hub Mode to phones. This would be a feature similar to Apple's Standby Mode.

The Pixel 10 series will feature a control chip called the ConvenientPower CPS4041 for wireless charging. This chip can theoretically support up to 60W wireless charging. However, Google may limit this at its own discretion, meaning the Pixel 10 series may not offer much faster wireless charging.
