Qualcomm at ChinaJoy 2026: Showcasing the Future of AI, XR, and Gaming with Snapdragon
On July 31, the 2026 China International Digital Interactive Entertainment Exhibition (ChinaJoy) kicked off in Shanghai. For the seventh consecutive year, Qualcomm hosted its "Snapdragon Pavilion," centered around the theme "Gather Your Loves." In collaboration with over 140 industry partners—including carriers, smartphone and PC OEMs, XR and wearable device manufacturers, game studios, and e-commerce platforms—Qualcomm showcased the latest advancements in AI, gaming, XR, and cross-device digital entertainment experiences. The expansive booth, spanning over 1,000 square meters, featured more than 300 devices, 200 technology demonstrations, and over 40 mobile and PC games, covering a wide range of product categories like AI glasses, AR/MR headsets, smartphones, PCs, and even smart rings.

AI Glasses & Over a Dozen XR Devices Debut with Two Major IP Immersive Experiences
This year, the Snapdragon Pavilion's XR experience zone, "Snapdragon XR Core-Verse," brought two major IPs to life: "A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality" and "Game for Peace." The area featured over a dozen XR devices from brands like Rayneo, Qianwen, Rokid, vivo, and Xiaomi. The "Snapdragon XR Fantasy Journey," based on the former IP, leveraged 5G-A networks, dual-eye 16K ultra-high-definition rendering, and a custom Snapdragon XR immersive motion cockpit to allow players to step into a virtual battle scene. Meanwhile, the "Snapdragon XR Adventure - Gilly's Great Battle" was a custom experience built around the "Game for Peace" IP on the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2-powered PICO 4 Ultra, enabling players to interact with characters in a virtual snowscape.
Beyond these IP experiences, the showcase highlighted the diverse landscape of current XR products. AI glasses focused on first-person capture and voice interaction; AR glasses added display capabilities for navigation and translation; and MR headsets provided comprehensive spatial tracking and immersive content. AI glasses, in particular, drew significant attention, demonstrating how on-device AI is moving into lighter, everyday wearable devices. By using cameras and sensors to capture a user's first-person perspective, these glasses can perform tasks like real-time translation, object recognition, and voice Q&A, solidifying their position as a key direction for personal AI hardware.
A new addition this year was the "AI Dream Factory" exhibit, which demonstrated AI's growing role in creating digital avatars, virtual companions, and games. In the Snapdragon Digital Avatar Workshop, attendees could use phones and tablets powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 to generate personal 3D digital avatars in real-time. The exhibit also featured game creation tools like TapTap Make, allowing creators to use generative AI to quickly build characters and scenes, thereby freeing up more time to focus on gameplay and narrative design.
The zone also showcased an interactive AI virtual pet powered by a combination of a Rokid AR Studio spatial computing suite, a second-generation smart ring, and a Snapdragon PC. Users could interact with the virtual pet using natural gestures and voice commands. Furthermore, Qualcomm demonstrated an on-device AI game assistant running on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 device, which can analyze gameplay in real-time to provide strategic advice locally without relying on a network connection. Three games driven by large language models (LLMs) were also on display, featuring characters who could respond dynamically to player actions, creating unique playthroughs.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Empowers Top-Tier Games with Advanced Technical Optimizations
Mobile gaming remained a central focus of the Snapdragon Pavilion. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, featuring the 3rd generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, a new Adreno GPU architecture, and an upgraded Hexagon NPU, provides the necessary power for today's demanding games. In the Snapdragon Elite Gaming area, leading publishers like Tencent and NetEase showcased 14 titles with technical optimizations. For instance, "Honor of Kings" utilized Snapdragon's Adaptive Game Quality technology and on-device voice recognition via the Hexagon NPU. "Game for Peace" was demonstrated running at a smooth 165fps, while "Honkai: Star Rail" benefited from Adreno's independent high-speed memory technology for improved power efficiency during long gaming sessions.
The showcase made it clear that optimizing flagship mobile games now involves a holistic approach, considering the CPU, GPU, NPU, memory, and power management. While high frame rates are a key metric, the industry's focus is shifting towards ensuring sustained performance, stability, and thermal efficiency to deliver the best possible player experience over extended periods. Qualcomm's presentation at ChinaJoy 2026 underscored its commitment to driving innovation across the digital entertainment ecosystem, with AI serving as a powerful engine for next-generation experiences on all Snapdragon-powered devices.
