Vivo X300 Ultra Rumored to Pioneer Industry-First Dual 200MP Camera System

New rumors are circulating about vivo's next flagship smartphone, which is expected to be the vivo X300 Ultra. According to a recent leak from the well-known source Digital Chat Station, this upcoming device, codenamed 8E5 Super Cup, is poised to make a significant leap in mobile photography by introducing an industry-first dual 200-megapixel imaging solution.

The core of this new camera system is a powerful dual-sensor setup. The main camera is reported to be a 200MP OV50K sensor, which features a large 1/1.3-inch sensor size and incorporates LOFIC technology. This advanced technology is designed to significantly improve dynamic range, capturing more detail in both the brightest highlights and darkest shadows of a scene.

Accompanying the main sensor is a groundbreaking 200MP OV50N ultra-telephoto lens. This sensor has a 1/2.5-inch size and offers a native optical zoom range of 2.5X to 3X. More impressively, when used in its full 200MP mode, it is capable of achieving 5X to 6X lossless zoom by leveraging its high resolution. For extreme long-range shots, the system will support up to a staggering 200X digital zoom.

To put this in perspective, the current industry benchmark for a high-resolution telephoto lens is the Samsung HP3, which is a 200MP sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size and 4X optical zoom. While the rumored OV50N has a slightly smaller sensor, its high pixel count provides significantly more flexibility for cropping and achieving high-quality lossless zoom at various focal lengths, potentially setting a new standard for telephoto performance.

Beyond the revolutionary camera system, the leak also sheds light on other specifications for the engineering prototype. The device is said to feature a 1.5K 8T LTPO display, a single-point ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for fast and secure unlocking, and a premium glass back construction. These features suggest that the vivo X300 Ultra is being developed as a top-tier flagship in every aspect.
