Apple Releases iOS/iPadOS 26 Developer Preview Beta 7

On August 18, Apple pushed out the iOS/iPadOS 26 Developer Preview Beta 7 update to iPhone and iPad users (internal version number: 23A5326a). This update comes seven days after the previous Beta/RC release.

Key Updates

  • Blood Oxygen Measurement for Apple Watch: This update primarily targets users in the U.S., restoring the blood oxygen measurement feature for Apple Watch. The feature had been disabled since January 2024 due to a patent dispute with medical technology company Masimo. Now, with a recent ruling from U.S. Customs, Apple has innovatively shifted the processing of blood oxygen sensor data to the iPhone. Users can view the results in the Respiratory Health section of the Apple Health app.
  • Adaptive Power Notifications: A new option has been added under “Settings > Battery > Power Mode” called “Adaptive Power Notifications.” When enabled, the system will notify users when the iPhone automatically optimizes performance to extend battery life. For instance, when the battery level drops to 20%, the system may dim the screen or switch to low power mode.
  • Visual Enhancements: iOS 26 continues to refine its “Liquid Glass” design language. In this Beta 7, the visual hierarchy has been improved, and the background color of the Control Center has been adjusted to a darker shade compared to previous test versions. Although these changes are not major, they contribute to a better user experience and recognizability.
