Nothing Phone (2a) Plus Official: Here are the features, design, and price
The company founded by Carl Pei usually gives a few clues about its next phone before the launch. After posting several images on social media, Nothing has announced the Phone (2a) Plus. This is, as expected, a more advanced version of the model presented a few months ago, which incorporates a more powerful processor, with an improved camera system and, in turn, introduces a slightly more refined design.
Technical specifications
As we say, there are no radical differences between the 'dry' model and the Plus. Nothing wants to offer a better experience, maintaining the essence that we know and, something important, without leaving the mid-range.
The Phone (2a) Plus comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. It promises to deliver 1300 nits of peak brightness, a key feature for those using the phone outdoors in sunlight. Talking a little about the design, this phone has 2.1 mm bezels symmetrically on each side of the screen.
On the back, we find wavy lines and the cameras centered within a circular panel. The back is also home to the Glyph interface, which uses light and sound patterns to communicate information, even with third-party apps. Glyph now contrasts with the new metallic 'surfer silver' design.
There are no changes in the rear cameras compared to the Phone (2a). The company has equipped the phone with two 50MP sensors. The change comes in the front camera, which jumps from 32MP to 50MP.
Nothing has also opted to upgrade the processor. We have gone from a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro to a Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G. This is a SoC manufactured under TSMC's 4nm Gen 2 process with 8 cores. The manufacturer claims that it has improved performance by 10% compared to the previous chip. In addition, it opens the door to using more applications at the same time. This, in conjunction with a 30% faster GPU.
Talking about the battery, the device comes with a capacity of 5000mAh. This is identical to the Phone (2a), but the difference is that the model announced today has a 50W fast charge.
NothingOS' software has taken a leap forward with version 2.6, which takes AI integration a step further, including a ChatGPT widget. Other new widgets have also been added that follow the classic aesthetic of Nothing's software, including one that displays the date, and another that displays the most relevant content from the Nothing Community.
In terms of support, Nothing guarantees three major OS updates for the Phone (2a) Plus, and a minimum of four years of security updates.
Price and where to buy it
The device is available to buy from July 31 in selected markets, priced at £399/$399. It will be launched in Spain and other regions in late summer.
