NPU Power Unleashed: ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X to Gain Auto SR in Early 2026

Microsoft Xbox and ASUS ROG have officially announced a significant upgrade for their collaborative handheld gaming device. The Xbox Ally X, powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, is set to receive a suite of AI-driven features starting early next year.

The most notable of these new features is Auto SR, a system-level super-resolution technology. This innovation leverages the device's Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to upscale games from a lower native rendering resolution. The result is the ability to achieve higher actual resolutions and smoother frame rates without requiring game developers to make any specific changes to their titles, promising a seamless performance boost across a wide range of games.
