According to a report from Yonhap News Agency on October 20, Samsung Electronics' LSI Division has completed the development of the Exynos 2600 chip, which is scheduled to enter mass production next month. This development signals a major strategic shift for the company's flagship smartphone line.

The Exynos chips, designed by Samsung's LSI Division and produced by its foundry division, are set to power the entire Galaxy S26 series. This decision indicates that the chip's performance and production yield rates have successfully met Samsung's stringent standards, paving the way for its widespread adoption in the upcoming flagship devices.

Sources familiar with the matter state that the Exynos 2600 is built on Samsung's latest 2nm process technology and has already achieved 85% of its target performance. Internal testing has reportedly shown impressive results, with its generative AI processing capability being over 6 times higher than the Apple A19 Pro. Furthermore, its NPU performance is said to be 30% higher than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5, and its GPU performance has seen a 29% improvement.

In a first for the series, Samsung has separated the chip core from the baseband in the Exynos 2600. This innovative design allows for a larger physical area for the CPU and GPU, which is expected to significantly enhance overall performance. Combined with the advanced 2nm process, this architectural change is poised to further strengthen the chip's comprehensive capabilities.

While the specific chip models for different regions have not been confirmed, industry consensus strongly suggests that the Galaxy S26 Ultra is highly likely to be equipped with the Exynos 2600. This would mark a significant return, as it would be the first time in four years that Samsung's premier Ultra model has used an in-house Exynos chip since the S22 Ultra.
