Galaxy S26 Ultra Tipped to Boost Privacy with 'Flex Magic Pixel' Display Tech

According to a report from the Korean display analysis firm Ubi Research, Samsung Electronics is poised to introduce a significant privacy enhancement in its next-generation flagship. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected to launch early next year, will reportedly feature a display panel equipped with 'Flex Magic Pixel' privacy protection technology.

Samsung Display first unveiled the 'Flex Magic Pixel' concept at MWC 2024. It is designed as an intelligent solution to the common problem of "shoulder surfing," where people in public spaces can glimpse sensitive information on a user's phone screen. This technology aims to provide a dynamic and automated layer of visual security.

The system operates by utilizing AI to identify when a user accesses sensitive applications, such as mobile banking, in a public environment. Upon detection, the technology adjusts the screen's viewing angle at the pixel level. This sophisticated adjustment ensures that the screen's content is visible only to the person positioned directly in front of it, effectively making the display unreadable from the sides.

In addition to this privacy feature, the Galaxy S26 Ultra's display is also expected to incorporate Samsung Display's CoE (Color on Encapsulation) polarizer-free technology. This innovation leads to higher light transmittance and a thinner panel, which in turn improves overall screen brightness and reduces power consumption.

The two technologies are designed to work in synergy. The CoE technology's inherent brightness and efficiency benefits are particularly useful for compensating for any potential brightness loss that might occur when the Flex Magic Pixel privacy mode is activated. This ensures that the user experience remains optimal even with the privacy filter engaged.
