Amazon China's first two renewable energy projects put into operation

Pinwan reported on October 26 that Amazon announced that the first two renewable energy projects supported by Amazon in China, the Shandong Solar Power Plant and the Qian’an Wind Power Plant, have been officially put into operation. The two projects have a combined installed capacity of 200 megawatts (MW) and are expected to generate 496,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean energy annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 250,000 average Chinese households. According to reports, the Amazon Shandong solar power plant covers an area of about 2.6 square kilometers and has installed 420,000 solar panels. With a total investment of RMB 1 billion, the project has brought significant economic benefits to the local area and provided more than 800 construction jobs at the peak of the project's construction. The project also organically integrates photovoltaic power generation with fish farming. Solar power plants on the surface of the water can convert sunlight into electricity, and underwater, safe aquaculture can be carried out to harvest solar energy resources and abundant aquatic products at the same time. In addition, Amazon's first wind power plant in Qian'an County, Jilin Province has also officially started operations. The 100 megawatt (MW) wind project will provide approximately 340,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean energy annually. According to public information, Amazon has built 379 renewable energy projects around the world, which can provide 18.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy, and is expected to generate 50,000 gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean energy per year, which is enough to generate electricity for Powers 4.3 million U.S. homes. By the end of 2021, the adoption rate of renewable energy in Amazon's business operations has reached 85%, and it is expected to achieve 100% of the use of renewable energy to support business operations by 2025, five years earlier than the original plan of 2030.
