Every January, tech enthusiasts everywhere eagerly tune in to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), where the world’s top innovators gather to unveil their latest and boldest creations. Over the years, CES has served as a launchpad for groundbreaking gaming electronics that have revolutionized how we play, from the first compact consoles to VR headsets and hyper-responsive peripherals. With each passing year, gaming tech at CES evolves, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and giving gamers a glimpse of the future.

This year, the spotlight at CES 2025 shines on immersive gaming experiences, adaptive hardware, and flexibility in design. Whether it’s the seamless portability of next-gen handhelds, ultra-high-performance laptop GPUs, or customizable controllers designed for all types of gamers, the theme is clear: gaming tailored to you.

Let’s dive into some of the most exciting gaming-related announcements that are set to change the way we play, from hardware that bends and rolls, to high-performance machines that deliver unparalleled speed and realism.

LG set a new benchmark for OLED gaming monitors with the introduction of the LG UltraGear GX9 45GX990A, the world's first 5K2K-resolution (5,120 x 2,160) bendable OLED display. This monitor caters to both productivity and immersive gaming experiences with a versatility and cutting-edge technology that’s earned it the prestigious Best of Innovation 2025 award at CES.

According to LG, the 45-inch monitor can quickly switch between a flat screen and a curved display (900R curve) in just seconds, giving gamers more flexibility and control. With the upgraded Dual-Mode feature, users can easily change between preset resolution and refresh rates, as well as adjust the aspect ratio and screen size to suit their preferences.

Lenovo introduced the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, a pioneering AI-enabled laptop featuring a unique rollable OLED display. This innovative screen expands vertically from 14 inches to 16.7 inches, offering enhanced productivity with split-screen functionality and virtual display options. Powered by Intel Core Ultra processors, it redefines the user experience by adapting to various tasks seamlessly.

With its hefty starting price of $3,499, Antonio G. Di Benedetto who checked it out on behalf of The Verge thinks that the ThinkBook may be completely ridiculous in a lot of ways compared to the array of new laptops, desktops, gadgets, and handhelds Lenovo unveiled at CES. However, he does admit that in his opinion, the innovative laptop stole the show.

MCON Sliding Gaming Controller

The MCON, developed by OhSnap, is a sleek, MagSafe-compatible mobile gaming controller that magnetically attaches to smartphones. Its standout feature is a slide-out mechanism that allows the controller to remain compact and unobtrusive when not in use. The MCON combines two clever concepts: using MagSafe for a secure, hassle-free grip on your phone, and incorporating slide-out controls, reminiscent of the old Android phones with slide-out keyboards. This design makes it both functional and compact.

Equipped with Nintendo Switch-like analog sticks, Hall effect sensors, fold-out grips, and a comprehensive set of buttons and triggers, the MCON transforms smartphones into portable gaming consoles.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang opened CES 2025 with a keynote focused on the company’s ambitious plans for artificial intelligence across both consumer and enterprise markets. Alongside its AI vision, Nvidia also unveiled impressive new gaming hardware, including the powerful GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card for desktop PCs, priced at $1,999.

The announcement marks a significant leap in laptop graphics performance. The lineup includes the RTX 5070, 5070 Ti, 5080, and the flagship 5090, all utilizing the new Blackwell architecture. These GPUs offer substantial improvements in AI-driven rendering and real-time ray tracing, setting new standards for gaming laptops. Manufacturers like HP have already integrated these GPUs into their latest models, such as the Omen Max 16, touted as HP's most powerful gaming laptop to date.

A Bright Future for Gaming in 2025
