Google Plans to Expand Cross Device Services to Android Devices
Google plans to introduce new features that will make Android devices work together faster and easier. They will be part of Cross-Device Services, services that will allow for better cooperation between different devices using the same account. This information has not yet been confirmed by Google - for now, it was shared by one of the Android leaker @AssembleDebug on X.
What's new in Android from Google
We know about three features that Google will probably add to Android with the March update. These include call casting (Call Cast), Wi-Fi Sharing, and hotspot sharing (Hotspot Sharing).
Below are the details of the new features that may soon be available on Android devices:
Call Cast
The Call Cast feature allows you to transfer calls from one device to another within a group of devices. Thanks to it, you can, for example, transfer a phone call from a phone to a tablet if it is more convenient for the user to use this device at a given moment. And a moment later, transfer the call back to your phone - or another one - of your choice.
Wi-Fi Sharing
It means sharing the Wi-Fi connection from one device with others in the group.
Hotspot Sharing
It allows for the shared use of an access point created on one device.
Cooperation of Android devices
The new features aim to make it easier to use various Android devices in a way similar to the Apple ecosystem. The tools will be available through Google Cross-Device Services, which already works with Chromebooks and Android phones. Therefore, you will first need to create a group of Android devices associated with the same account in order to use services together on Chromebooks, Android tablets, and smartphones.
For now, these features are available in the developer section - Google has not officially made them available to all users. But this may change next month, with the March software update.
