GoPro Hero 13 Black and GoPro Hero

GoPro announced today the GoPro Hero 13 Black, the new generation of the company's well-known extreme camera, which comes with the ability to shoot video in 5.3K resolution at 60 fps with a new set of features that includes a GPS Built-in, option to connect a set of 4 lenses with automatic detection and more. In addition, the company introduced the tiny GoPro Hero camera, which comes with a rear screen and offers the ability to shoot video in 4K60 resolution. Here are all its features.

GoPro Hero 13 Black

With the GoPro Hero 12 Black we were already able to record in 5.3K resolution along with the proprietary HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilization system. This year there are no major changes to the sensor, but there have been improvements in video recording. In addition to HDR, the Hero 13 Black introduces Hybrid Gamut (HLG), which allows for a wider color range.

It also has a new slow motion burst, which goes from the maximum frame rate at 720p400fps, through 900p360fps to a maximum resolution of 5.3K120fps. The color screens are still 1.4" and 2.27" LCDs. What has changed slightly this year is the interface, where we can adjust the audio and have a more flexible QuikCapture.

On the performance front, GoPro explains that the Hero 13 has improved its airflow runtime, offering 13.5% better times than the previous generation. But where there has certainly been a jump is in battery capacity. We went from the 1,720mAh of the Hero 12 Black to the 1,900mAh of the new Enduro battery of the Hero 13 Black.

According to official GoPro data, the upgraded battery offers extended battery life, particularly in extreme temperatures. With this new battery, users can expect more than 2.5 hours of recording at 1080p resolution and over 1.5 hours at 5.3K30fps. Additionally, this year's model has improved connectivity with WiFi 6.

To enhance the Hero 13 Black, GoPro currently offers four HB series lenses that support HyperSmooth stabilization, have hydrophobic coatings to withstand water, attach magnetically, and are automatically detected by the camera itself.

And it is completely weatherproof so you can, for example, create splendid timelapses at night without worrying about possible rain.

The first of these is the 'Ultra Wide Lens', which allows you to expand the field of view up to 177º in a 1:1 aspect ratio. Although it is a wide angle, it also takes advantage of video stabilization with 360º and up to 4K resolution at 60 fps.

The second lens is a 'Macro Lens' with a variable focus up to four times closer than the standard GoPro lens. It can be manually adjusted up to 11 cm. The 'Anamorphic Lens' allows you to capture wide-angle content in a 21:9 format. Finally, we have a pack of four neutral density filters, which create motion distortion.

All of these lenses are sold separately and are available now, except for the anamorphic lens module which will arrive in 2025.

Hero, a smallest and cheapest 4K action camera

Its name is as compact as its size. Simply GoPro Hero. It is the new camera that will accompany the Hero 13 Black and we are looking at a tremendously striking model. Compared to the Hero 13 Black, it is up to 35% smaller and 46% lighter. That is, it weighs only 86 grams. As usual in GoPro cameras, we also have waterproofing up to 5 meters.

Its size does not prevent us from having a touch screen, which we can control with just one button to switch between the different capture modes. It has a 12MP sensor for photos and allows you to record Ultra HD video in 4K resolution. It also allows you to record horizontal video in a 16:9 aspect ratio, mainly aimed at YouTube.

Using the paid Quik app, you can synchronize content and also apply Hypersmooth video stabilization to automatically eliminate vibrations. As for battery life, the GoPro Hero promises up to 100 minutes of 4K/30fps recording on a single charge or 155 minutes in 1080p.
