SHOTEN Unveils Smart Adapter: Use Leica M Lenses on Canon RF with EXIF & Macro Capabilities

SHOTEN has officially launched its new LM-CR ME adapter, a versatile tool designed to bridge the gap between classic Leica M-mount lenses and modern Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras. The adapter is priced at $249, offering a unique combination of features for photographers looking to expand their lens collection.

A standout feature of this adapter is its integration of electronic contacts. This allows for the recording of EXIF data directly to your image files and enables the camera's focus confirmation aids, making manual focusing more precise. However, it's important to note that this adapter does not convert manual focus lenses into autofocus ones.

Given that Leica M-mount lenses do not have any native electrical contacts, SHOTEN has implemented a clever solution for data management. The adapter must be connected to a computer to register lens profiles. Users can save information such as lens name, focal length, and maximum aperture for up to 10 different lenses, ensuring accurate EXIF data for their favorite glass.

Beyond its electronic capabilities, the adapter also features a built-in 4mm helicoid mechanism. This allows the lens to be extended, effectively shortening its minimum focusing distance. This function acts as a built-in close-up extension tube, opening up new possibilities for macro and close-focus photography with lenses not originally designed for it.

The adapter is also designed with practicality in mind. It is lightweight, weighing approximately 97 grams, and includes an infinity lock function. This useful feature prevents the user from accidentally engaging the helicoid when shooting at a distance, ensuring sharp focus at infinity.
