In today's smartphone era, which generally has a large screen above 6.5 inches. This brand, Unihertz, presents something different through its latest smartphone, Jelly Max. This smartphone is claimed to be the smallest 5G smartphone on the market. Not long ago, we talked about this device, and now the manufacturer has revealed all its technical characteristics and launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter platform. The cost of the device starts at $199, and sales will start in October 2024.

Unihertz markets its novelty as possibly the smallest 5G smartphone, and in terms of length and width, the Unihertz Jelly Max is quite small among today's average quite large smartphones. According to Unihertz, with multiple 5G network frequencies and bands, Jelly Max is a good choice for users who need a compact device and a reliable Internet connection to access 5G networks.

The dimensions of the Jelly Max are 128.7 x 62.7 x 16.3 mm. The length and width are therefore smaller than, for example, the iPhone 13 mini (dimensions 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.65 mm), but the thickness is more than twice as large.

Due to its thickness, the volume of the Unihertz Jelly Max is therefore nowhere near the smallest 5G smartphone, even though the other dimensions are small. The phone's weight is 180 grams, which is not very small.

The 32MP front camera is located in a hole in the upper left corner of the screen. The technical basis of the Unihertz Jelly Max is the mid-level Dimensity 7300 system chip announced by MediaTek at the end of May, which contains four more powerful Arm Cortex-A78 cores with a clock frequency of 2.5 Ghz and four lower-current Arm Cortex-A55 cores with a clock frequency of 2 Ghz. The Arm Mali-G615 MC2 graphics processor and the APU 655 artificial intelligence computing unit are also part of the Dimensity 7300 circuits manufactured with a 4-nanometer process.

In addition, the smallest 5G smartphone has invested in a large amount of RAM, as it is up to 12GB (LPDDR5). The storage memory, on the other hand, is 256GB (UFS 3.1), and it can be expanded with a microSD memory card, the slot of which is shared with another nano SIM card slot.

In addition, the Unihertz Jelly Max has a 4,000mAh battery that supports 66-watt fast charging, which charges the battery to 90 percent in 20 minutes. Other features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC proximity connection, customizable function button, FM radio, and infrared transmitter. The fingerprint reader is mounted on the back of the phone. The operating system version is Android 14.

Price and availability

Now Unihertz Jelly Max can be purchased only on the Kickstarter platform. The most affordable version of the smartphone for $199 is already sold out. At the moment, the minimum cost of the device starts from $239. Sending the smartphone to buyers will begin in October of this year. Delivery to countries is limited.
