Samsung Display to Begin Mass Production of OLED Panels for Apple MacBook Pro in Q2 2026

According to a report from The Elec, Samsung Display (SDC) is set to start trial production of OLED panels for Apple’s first OLED MacBook Pro by the end of this year, with mass production scheduled to commence at the end of the second quarter in 2026. Samsung Display has secured exclusive supply of the OLED panels for the MacBook Pro, which will be available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. These panels will be manufactured at Samsung Display’s G8 IT OLED production facility, known as A6.

The A6 facility comprises two OLED production lines, each with a monthly glass substrate input capacity of 7,500 units. Based on a 14.3-inch panel calculation, the annual production capacity can reach up to 10 million units. Apple’s order is expected to utilize one of these lines, with an estimated annual output of 2 to 3 million units in 2026.

To optimize the utilization rate of the A6 factory, Samsung Display is also in discussions with the “DHL” trio of notebook manufacturers—Dell, HP, and Lenovo—to activate the second production line. If demand from other IT clients is slow, Samsung Display may need to retrofit the production line to add capacity for non-IT panels.

Samsung’s exclusive supply deal for Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro panels underscores its leadership in the OLED market and its strategic importance to Apple’s product roadmap. This development is likely to have significant implications for the future of high-end notebook displays, as OLED technology offers superior contrast ratios, deeper blacks, and more vibrant colors compared to traditional LCD panels.
