Global OLED Market 2025 Forecast: Samsung Display to Lead with 41% Revenue Share, Says CounterPoint

According to a recent report by market research firm CounterPoint Research, the global OLED panel market is poised for a slight recovery in 2025. While total OLED panel revenue for the year is expected to see a marginal decline, shipment volumes are projected to grow by approximately 2% year-over-year, buoyed by a resurgence in demand for smartphones, laptops, and monitors. A more robust revenue rebound is anticipated for 2026.

The forecast indicates a mixed performance throughout the year. For Q3 2025, OLED panel shipments are expected to increase by 1% year-over-year, though revenue is projected to decrease by 2%. This follows a Q2 where global OLED panel revenue fell by 5% YoY. The narrowing revenue decline in Q3 is attributed to a 2% YoY increase in smartphone panel shipments and double-digit growth in the monitor and laptop segments, signaling a gradual market stabilization.

Samsung Display

Samsung Display is set to maintain its dominant position. In Q2 2025, the company's shipment share climbed to 35%, with its revenue share reaching 42%, fueled by triple-digit quarter-over-quarter increases in laptop and smartwatch panels. For the full year 2025, CounterPoint projects Samsung Display will capture a 41% revenue share, a slight dip from 42% in 2024.

LG Display

In Q2 2025, LG Display saw its panel area share increase to 38%, but its revenue share declined to 21%. This was primarily due to a double-digit quarter-over-quarter drop in smartphone shipments, which was partially offset by growth in TV and smartwatch panels. The company's full-year 2025 share is forecasted at 21%, down from 23% in 2024.

BOE

BOE's shipment and revenue shares fell to 9% and 15% respectively in Q2 2025. While the company experienced double-digit quarter-over-quarter growth in smartphone and laptop panels, this was counteracted by a double-digit decline in the smartwatch segment. For the full year 2025, BOE's revenue share is expected to hold steady at 14%, unchanged from 2024.

Tianma

Tianma’s OLED shipment share decreased to 5% and its revenue share to 6% in Q2 2025. Despite not producing OLED TV panels, the company's revenue grew by 8% quarter-over-quarter, supported by demand for smartphone and smartwatch displays. Tianma is projected to increase its market presence, with its full-year 2025 revenue share expected to reach 6%, up from 5% in 2024.

In summary, the 2025 OLED market outlook suggests a period of transition and stabilization. While industry leader Samsung Display is expected to maintain a significant lead, its slight decline in share, along with LG Display's, indicates growing competition. BOE is holding its ground, and players like Tianma are making incremental gains, signaling a more dynamic and competitive landscape ahead.
