2025 Apple TV 4K Preview: A17 Pro Power, Apple Intelligence, and Wi-Fi 7 on the Horizon

According to a summary of recent leaks and reports published by MacRumors on October 27, Apple is expected to release a new Apple TV 4K by the end of 2025. While the external design is not anticipated to undergo major changes, the internal chip upgrades are set to deliver a significant leap in performance for the set-top box.

The core upgrade for the new Apple TV will be its processor. The next-generation device is expected to be equipped with the A17 Pro chip, which was first introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro models. This marks a substantial advancement from the A15 Bionic chip found in the current model.

This upgrade is highly significant for several reasons. The more powerful CPU and GPU will enable support for console-level gaming. More importantly, it will allow the Apple TV to run on-device "Apple Intelligence" AI functions for the first time, signaling a major boost in performance and capability.

In terms of network connectivity, the new model is rumored to integrate Apple's self-developed N1 network chip, which is set to debut in the iPhone 17 series. Consequently, the new Apple TV will support the Wi-Fi 7 standard for the first time. This will allow the device to connect to the faster and less congested 6GHz band, providing users with higher network speeds and lower latency for gaming and streaming.

Furthermore, the more powerful chip lays the groundwork for a significant evolution of Siri. Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new version of Siri based on Large Language Models (LLM) in the spring of 2026, aiming to bring its interactive capabilities closer to those of ChatGPT. This will enable users to perform complex operations with more natural voice commands, receive more accurate content recommendations, and make in-depth queries about actors or soundtracks.

Other details remain uncertain, including whether the device will be equipped with a front-facing camera for FaceTime calls. On the pricing front, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously predicted that Apple aims to set the price for the next-generation Apple TV at around $100 to enhance its competitiveness in the market.
