OPPO ColorOS 16 Teaser: AI-Powered Upgrades Revealed for Recorder and Notes Apps

OPPO ColorOS 16

OPPO is gearing up for the launch of ColorOS 16 on October 15th. Ahead of the official release, Chen Xi, the Design Director for ColorOS, has provided a sneak peek into several new AI-driven features, highlighting significant enhancements to the system's Recorder and Notes applications.

The built-in Recorder app is receiving a major audio clarity boost with the new "AI Vocal Enhancement" feature. According to Chen, this technology is designed to ensure every word is heard clearly during playback by effectively eliminating distracting background noise and room reverberation. This makes it ideal for capturing audio in challenging environments like noisy cafes or large meeting rooms.

Alongside clearer audio, the Recorder app also introduces an upgraded "AI Summary" function. This feature now supports a wider variety of templates tailored for specific scenarios, such as meetings, interviews, and academic lectures. The system can intelligently identify the content type and apply the most suitable template. The new summaries are also more detailed and precise in capturing key information, offering both concise and comprehensive overviews.

The Notes app in ColorOS 16 has been completely revamped, from its aesthetic layout to its editing efficiency. A standout feature is the new "Block Editing" capability, which modularizes all content elements—including paragraphs, text, images, files, and tables. This innovation significantly improves the speed and ease of selecting and batch-editing content. Furthermore, ColorOS 16 introduces enhanced AI-powered functions for stylus users, such as real-time handwriting beautification, a handwriting calculator, and AI-powered search for handwritten text.

The "AI Writing" feature has also been refreshed, now including functions like "Free Write," AI-powered generation of PPT presentations, and AI-created tables. This powerful tool is not confined to the Notes and Docs apps; it is integrated directly into the keyboard, making it available system-wide and capable of recognizing different usage scenarios to provide contextual assistance.
