AMD Unveils a Driver For Ryzen 7000X3D to Outperform Intel
Yesterday, we discussed the advantages of AMD's asymmetric design for the upcoming Ryzen 7000X3D processor. Today, a leaked report reveals that an optimized driver with a crucial component will be released in just three days. This driver is expected to include a crucial component, as was the case with last year's version focused on the Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
It's worth noting that AMD has not yet made an official announcement regarding this driver, but it's already available for download. It's likely that the driver will be released for all AMD chipsets when the Ryzen 7000X3D is launched, showcasing its performance.
The new WHQL driver is highly anticipated as it is expected to not only support the latest processors, but also rectify the resource allocation issues for different CCD and CCX. Interestingly, the Ryzen 5 7600X has managed to perform on par with its older counterparts despite these issues in Windows 11.
AMD Chipset Driver 5.01.29.2026 WHQL, optimized for Ryzen 7000X3D with 3D V-Cache
The filter has uncovered an updated version of the "3D V-Cache Performance Optimizer Controller" section of the driver. This new version, 1.0.0.7, is a significant upgrade from the previous 1.0.0.3 release from April of last year. This updated version is crucial in enhancing the performance of Ryzen 7 5800X3D and resolving potential issues that Ryzen 7000X3D may experience with Windows 11.
The reason for the update is the imbalance in chipsets of the new processors, which feature a single CCD that includes the coveted 3D V-Cache. It follows that only two of the three processors will reap its benefits: the Ryzen 9 7950X with its 16 cores, and the Ryzen 9 7900X3D with its 12 cores.
Microsoft and AMD have continuously encountered issues with the new Windows kernel's inability to allocate resources and prioritize based on the CCD. This recurring problem may resurface due to the challenges presented by the Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
Driver for download
The download isn't available to us directly from AMD. Instead, it's provided by one of their partners, ASRock. More precisely, the download can be found in the support section of their X670E Taichi Carrara.
What's interesting about this driver is that, according to the ASRock website, it's only compatible with Windows 11. However, leaked patch notes indicate that it's designed for both Windows 10 and the specified OS. This suggests that the two operating systems share the same installation package.
Likewise, only Ryzen 7 5800X3D owners will be able to test it and comment on their experiences on both Operating Systems, because Ryzen 7000X3D processors will not be available until February 28.
We will see if, indeed, AMD hits the table in a key section such as the games that did not require more L3 cache due to their lower graphic impact, such as e-Sports and other widely played titles such as CS: GO or Dota 2, to give some of the many examples. And it is that here Intel came out winning for its higher clocks, something that may not occur this time precisely because of the asymmetric design of these Ryzen 7000X3D.
