Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Render Images Reveal the Design

Galaxy Z Fold 7 Render

Samsung's next foldable smartphone has been the subject of many rumors, and now it's time for the first renders. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is coming with a thinner design than its predecessors.

Samsung is expected to release successors to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 in 2025, but also new expansions to the lineup in the form of a more affordable Galaxy Z Flip FE clamshell model and the first tri-folding Galaxy phone.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7, which continues the series of folding screen phones in the book model, has now appeared in the render images. These images were published by leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, aka OnLeaks, who is usually known for his reliable revelations, together with the Android Headlines website.

According to rumors, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be based in a significant way on the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which Samsung will introduce in its home market of South Korea after the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in late 2024.

As per the shared images, the Galaxy Z Fold7's dimensions when opened would be 158.4 x 143.1 x 4.5 mm, and when closed, the thickness would be close to 9 mm, with 9.5 mm at the camera bump.

Compared to Samsung's 2024 Galaxy Z Fold 6, the new product is becoming significantly thinner - and that's a good thing because Samsung's model from last year was far from its competitors with a thickness of 12.1 mm when closed and 5.6 mm when opened.

Honor took the thickness of foldable phones to less than 10 mm when closed in the fall of 2023 with the Magic V2, and its 2024 model, the Magic V3, is 9.2 mm thick when closed and 4.35 mm when opened. According to leaked information, Samsung is not even going to reach these figures with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Additionally, Oppo recently announced the world's thinnest foldable phone yet, the Oppo Find N5, which measures just 4.21 mm thick when opened and 8.93 mm thick when closed. Honor has also hinted at an even thinner device of its own.

In new renders, the Galaxy Z Fold 7's foldable inner display is said to be 8.2 inches and the cover display is 6.5 inches. Aspect ratios are changing to wider than previous models in the wake of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Apart from the thinness, nothing is surprising in the design details, but Samsung continues along familiar lines.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to feature a 200-megapixel main camera and will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage. The battery capacity may remain at 4,400mAh. Samsung will likely announce its next foldable phone on a roughly normal schedule, possibly in July.
