Day 1 MWC 2025: Innovations Unveiled by Xiaomi, Tecno, Infinix, and Others

At the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, tech companies are rolling out their latest innovations. Infinix has introduced a groundbreaking technology designed to convert light into energy, enhancing battery longevity. Meanwhile, Tecno has proudly launched what it claims to be the world’s thinnest smartphone, the Spark Slim.
Xiaomi has also made waves with its custom-made Xiaomi 15 smartphone and Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro, becoming the first earbuds equipped with Qualcomm’s S7 Pro chip for audio streaming capabilities over both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. In addition, Qualcomm showcased its Dragonwing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Gen 4 Elite modem. Here are some key highlights from these impressive product launches.
Infinix's E-Color Shift 2.0 and SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology
Infinix has launched its E-Color Shift 2.0 feature, which allows the phone's back panel to display vibrant hues without draining additional power. The company reports that this upgraded technology offers users the ability to personalize their devices through AI-driven adjustments that consider personal preferences as well as environmental factors.

Users can choose from six dynamic patterns and six different color schemes, creating as many as 30 unique combinations. The back panel employs AI-powered modules to modify its colors based on weather conditions, wallpaper selections, and surroundings, promising enhanced color depth and segmentation.

Additionally, Infinix has unveiled its SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology, designed to enhance battery life in an eco-friendly manner. This innovation combines advanced perovskite photovoltaic systems with smart AI algorithms to effectively capture and optimize ambient light for charging in various settings. The technology harnesses light energy from both indoor and outdoor sources, storing it in a specialized phone case.

This unique case transfers energy to the phone via discreet contact points, with AI algorithms that adjust energy acquisition in real-time, allowing for a storage capacity of up to 2W, with possibilities for future advancements.
Tecno Spark Slim

Chinese tech company Tecno has introduced its slimmest smartphone yet, named the Spark Slim. This sleek device features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display and a dual camera setup on the rear, featuring a 50MP main sensor. Although the global launch details regarding pricing and availability are still to be announced, the Spark Slim is expected to compete directly with the stylish models from Apple and Samsung.

The smartphone offers an impressive 144Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals and is powered by an octa-core processor, though specific information about the chipset has not been revealed. Additionally, the Spark Slim is equipped with a substantial 5,200mAh battery and a 13MP front-facing camera for capturing selfies and making video calls. Notably, this ultra-thin device measures just 4.04mm in thickness and features a durable aluminum body complemented by a stainless steel frame.
Custom-made Xiaomi 15 Smartphone and Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro
Earlier today at the MWC kick-off, Xiaomi introduced a prototype of its foldable smartphone. This innovative device features a unique attachable lens module, which connects magnetically and houses the camera sensor.

However, those who are interested in purchasing this new phone should temper their excitement. Xiaomi has revealed limited details and stated that there are currently no plans for a market release. The company has expressed a keen interest in gathering customer feedback on the concept.

In addition, Xiaomi revealed the Buds 5 Pro earbuds, available in two configurations: a standard Bluetooth version and a Wi-Fi variant equipped with Qualcomm’s Expanded Personal Area Network (XPAN) technology.

The Wi-Fi model delivers high-fidelity 96kHz/24bit lossless audio with bandwidth capabilities of up to 4.2Mbps, outstripping regular Bluetooth options. This allows users to enjoy a reliable connection even when they move away from their phones, as long as they remain within the range of their Wi-Fi network.
Qualcomm Dragonwing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Gen 4 Elite
This modem features the Qualcomm X85 5G modem, featuring impressive peak download speeds of up to 12.5 Gbps, tri-band Wi-Fi i7 capabilities, and 14 km mmWave 5G connectivity.

The Dragonwing FWA Gen 4 Elite is powered by a quad-core processor, combined with a Hexagon NPU coprocessor that delivers up to 40 TOPS performance. According to Qualcomm, the new X85 5G Modem-RF will soon be available on upcoming Android smartphones.
