iPhone 15 Pro: Leaked CAD Files Show It’s Action Button

This month of April has been an absolutely spectacular month in terms of the arrival of numerous leaks related to the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro . We have obtained information regarding the ultimate configuration of the iPhone 15 Pro, including certain features like its light blue color option.

Furthermore, we have discovered that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro will feature a multifunctional action button located on one of its edges, which will take the place of the classic sound switch and that it will work as a camera shutter but also to take screenshots and to activate many other functions. Recently, 9to5mac obtained access to the most recent CAD files for the iPhone 15 Pro, and they have revealed the exclusive design of a new button.

These CAD files of the iPhone 15 Pro, obtained from a highly credible source, provide significantly more accurate and insightful information regarding the upcoming smartphone series, which are scheduled to be unveiled in September 2023. These types of files are delivered to the companies that manufacture accessories, and contain precise measurements of devices. This enables them to develop their products in advance of a new smartphone's launch.

The continuous cycle of rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 suggests that the upcoming Apple devices may feature a long unified volume button that can respond to varying degrees of pressure with small haptic vibrations. Shortly after, it was rumored that this novelty would have been scrapped by Apple due to complications with its development.

However, it seems that the company recognized by its iconic bitten apple emblem is set on moving forward with the iPhone 15 Pro's updated action button design, as indicated by the specifics found in the newly obtained CAD files. In them we see two volume buttons and a new button –not a switch– located on the side.

The new action button is expected to only feature on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (Ultra) models, as opposed to the iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus. Users of the latter two models will still rely on the sound switch to silence or activate audio.

On the other hand, the CAD files also allow us to glimpse certain design changes in the protrusion of the iPhone 15 Pro camera module. While the first leaks showed a much more "protruding" protrusion – if I may be redundant – the data from the new CAD files suggest that the bulge will not be as exaggeratedly thick.

Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max's camera module would have a slightly larger bulge than the iPhone 15 Pro, which would be perfectly in line with the possible arrival of a periscope lens in Apple's flagship in 2023.
