AYANEO NEXT 2 Unveiled: A Flagship Windows Handheld with Zen 5 Power and a Massive OLED Display

AYANEO has officially announced its new flagship Windows handheld, the AYANEO NEXT 2. Pre-orders for the Midnight Black edition are now open on the official store, with a starting price of 12,999 Yuan. Shipments are scheduled to begin at the end of May 2026.

The device features an upgraded "NEXT" 2.0 ergonomic grip, designed with a structure and smooth curves that better fit the user's hands. A standout feature is the custom-designed 9.06-inch large OLED native landscape display. It boasts a 2400×1504 resolution and supports multiple switchable high refresh rates, including 60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz, and 165Hz, catering to various gaming and application needs. The screen also achieves a peak global brightness of 1155 nits, supports 5280Hz PWM dimming, and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

Under the hood, the AYANEO NEXT 2 is a powerhouse, configurable with up to the flagship AMD Ryzen™ AI Max+ 395 processor. This CPU is built on TSMC's 4nm process and the Zen 5 "Strix Halo" architecture, featuring 16 cores, 32 threads, and a max frequency of 5.1GHz. It is paired with an integrated Radeon 8060S GPU based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture, which includes 40 compute units and a frequency of up to 2.9GHz. For those seeking different performance levels, an AMD Ryzen™ AI Max 385 processor option is also available.

The device places a strong emphasis on AI capabilities, incorporating an XDNA 2 NPU that delivers a total AI compute power of up to 126 TOPS. This provides robust support for high-frame-rate AAA gaming, content creation, and various AI applications. To manage the heat from its powerful components, the AYANEO NEXT 2 utilizes a new dual-fan cooling system with high-performance fans, efficient fins, and a dual-exhaust structure. Powering the device is an exceptionally large 116Wh battery, promising extended endurance.

The AYANEO NEXT 2 introduces several innovations in its control scheme. It is the first Windows handheld to feature adjustable torque TMR joysticks, allowing players to customize the joystick's resistance to their preference. This is complemented by Hall effect linear triggers with a dual-mode trigger lock, enabling easy switching between linear and micro-switch modes for different game genres. Further enhancing the control experience are a "floating" eight-way D-pad for precise feedback, and the "TouchTAPMagic" dual smart touchpads that support highly customizable button mapping. The device also includes four back buttons and four additional customizable keys.

In terms of connectivity, the AYANEO NEXT 2 offers two full-function USB4 ports that support 40Gbps high-speed data transfer and DP 1.4 video output. It also includes a high-speed Micro SD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, and the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.4 standards. On the software side, AYANEO continues to refine its proprietary AYASpace management software, which provides a one-stop game launcher, a smart control center, and system-wide performance tuning to deliver a user-friendly, console-like experience on Windows.
