After Huawei, Amazon Also Wants to Launch a Folding Laptop

You're all familiar with foldable smartphones today, which are a large screen that can be folded into a smaller format, like the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Well, this system is starting to spread to larger devices, like laptops.

Indeed, according to information from leaker Ming-Chi Kuo, Amazon has gotten involved after Huawei. He indicated in a message posted on the social network X that Jeff Bezos's company is currently developing such a device internally, for which we will have to be a little patient.

According to the same source, if things go smoothly, Amazon's folding laptop would be on the market by the end of 2026, or even during 2027. And in the coming years, the e-commerce giant would have to contend with competition from other American companies. 

Ross Young (DSCC CEO), an authority in the display supply chain industry, also confirmed this, and it appears that Amazon is already in negotiations with suppliers of related components.

Amazon is known for its affordable Fire series, and this foldable device will likely be priced not too high, making it more affordable for many users. On the other hand, Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and others will focus on the premium market.

At this time, specific information regarding the display panel size, technology, and OS has not yet been revealed.

Apple is also in the running

We know that Apple is also in the works, with the development of a giant folding MacBook, which would have an 18.8-inch foldable screen. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, this device should not arrive in 2026, as we might have initially believed, but would instead see its mass production begin at the end of 2027, or in 2028.

Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station and journalist Mark Gurman have also confirmed the existence of this product. 

Remember that the folding iPhone expected in 2026 or 2027 would have an 8-inch screen and a thickness of only 4.6 mm in the unfolded position.
