DJI Mini 5 Pro: The Latest Drone with a 1-Inch Sensor and 4K/120fps Capabilities

The DJI Mini 5 Pro, the anticipated upgrade to the popular Mini 4 Pro drone, has recently been making waves in the tech community. According to recent leaks, the Mini 5 Pro is poised to introduce some impressive new features.

Key Features of the Mini 5 Pro

1. 1-Inch CMOS Sensor

The Mini 5 Pro will be equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor, a significant upgrade from its predecessor. This sensor is capable of supporting 4K resolution and 120 frames per second (fps) video capture. Additionally, it offers a 48mm telephoto mode, likely achieved through sensor cropping, which will enhance the drone's versatility in capturing detailed and distant subjects.

2. Enhanced Camera Capabilities

The camera on the Mini 5 Pro is not just about the sensor. It also includes several advanced features:

  • 4K/120fps Video Shooting: This allows for smooth and high-quality video capture, perfect for action shots and slow-motion footage.
  • Night Mode: This feature enhances low-light performance, making it possible to capture stunning footage even in dim conditions.
  • HDR and Noise Reduction: These functions improve image quality by balancing light and reducing noise, resulting in clearer and more vibrant videos and photos.

3. Intelligent Flight Features

The Mini 5 Pro comes with a suite of intelligent flight features that make it easier and safer to fly:

  • ActiveTrack 360°: This feature allows the drone to follow a subject from all angles, ensuring that the subject remains in the frame no matter how they move.
  • Waypoint, Cruise Control, and Advanced Follow: These functions provide precise flight control, allowing users to set specific routes or follow subjects with ease.
  • LADAR (Laser-Assisted Detection and Ranging): This technology helps the drone detect obstacles and navigate more accurately, enhancing safety during flight.

4. Improved Stability and Flexibility

The Mini 5 Pro offers true vertical shooting and a 225° gimbal rotation, providing more flexible camera movement. This means users can capture unique angles and perspectives that were previously difficult to achieve.

5. Long Battery Life

The official battery life of the Mini 5 Pro is rated at 36 minutes per smart flight battery. While this is only a 2-minute improvement over the previous generation, it still offers a decent amount of flight time for most users.

6. Lightweight and Portable Design

Despite its advanced features, the Mini 5 Pro remains ultra-light and foldable, making it easy to transport and set up. The exact weight has not been disclosed yet, but it is expected to be in line with DJI's commitment to creating user-friendly and portable drones.

Release Date and Availability

Initially, it was rumored that the Mini 5 Pro would be released on August 7th. However, according to insider Jasper Ellens, the release date has been pushed back. Ellens suggests that the drone is now expected to be officially launched in September, although the exact date remains to be confirmed.
