Haier Unveils HIVA Haiwa: The "Housework Terminator" Robot

On July 26, Haier Group introduced its latest humanoid robot, "HIVA Haiwa," which has been dubbed the "housework terminator." This innovative robot is designed to be a domestic helper, capable of performing a wide range of household chores.

Key Features of HIVA Haiwa

  • Dimensions and Mobility: Standing at 165 cm tall and weighing 70 kg, HIVA Haiwa has 44 degrees of freedom, allowing it to reach from the ground up to 2 meters high.
  • Versatile Tasks: The robot is equipped with a mobile base and dexterous hands, which enable it to perform tasks such as using a floor washer, cooking, and even operating a washing machine. It can also handle ironing, folding clothes, and retrieving and storing laundry.
  • Remote Operation: Currently, HIVA Haiwa's tasks are completed through remote operation by engineers. This process is part of the robot's learning and data accumulation phase.

Previous Showcase

At the AWE 2025 China Appliance and Consumer Electronics Expo earlier this year, Haier and  ROBOTERA showcased another household service robot called "Little Star." This robot, which features a bipedal design, also garnered significant attention.

HIVA Haiwa represents a significant step forward in the development of domestic service robots. While it is still in the early stages of development, its potential to transform household chores is exciting. As the technology continues to evolve, we can expect even more advanced capabilities from these robots in the future. Stay tuned to Heyup for the latest in robotics and new technology updates!
