nubia Z70 Ultra Launched With SD8 Elite, 35mm Main Camera, and AI, Price From $750
After several rumors and leaks, the nubia Z70 Ultra was made official in China as the brand's most powerful flagship for 2024. It also features several specifications in common with the RedMagic 10 Pro from the same manufacturer.
In highlights, the nubia Z70 Ultra features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, a redesigned design, an improved under-display camera, P69/IP68 certification for water and dust resistance and advanced integration with artificial intelligence via the Nebula AIOS interface.
Technical specifications
The nubia Z70 Ultra features a 6.85-inch AMOLED screen without a notch or hole, which features the seventh generation of technology that accommodates the front sensor below the display for an immersive experience, in addition to edges with a thickness of just 1.25 mm, a screen-to-body-ratio of 95.3 %, 1.5K resolution, a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits.
Under the hood, the flagship features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite platform with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. There's also the AI Frame Perception 2.0 feature, which improves system fluidity by 25% and launches apps 50% faster.
In the photographic set, the nubia Z70 Ultra has a 35mm lens as a main camera with variable aperture. In a nutshell, the lens can go from f/1.59 to f/4.0 (in nine steps) to let in more or less light, thus achieving effects like greater sharpness, more natural bokeh in portraits, and so on. It's not strictly new technology, but it is the first time it's been implemented in this way.
In terms of sensors, the device has a 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 main sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel OV50D wide-angle sensor that also acts as a macro (up to 2.5 cm), and a 64-megapixel telephoto sensor with three optical magnifications and OIS.
That camera is not visible. As is the company's trademark, the nubia Z70 Ultra features an under-display camera. This is the seventh generation to do so and the company claims to have improved performance by 30%: This is possible thanks to the memory in the layer that covers the camera and the clarity algorithm that reduces noise and improves sharpness. There is also a new camera button that users can press halfway to focus or press completely to take a photo.
For power, there is a 6,150mAh battery unit, 80W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse charging. Other features include IP69/IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, an X-axis linear motor, and dual speakers. In terms of dimensions, the device measures 164.3 × 77.1 × 8.6 mm and weighs 228 grams.
The nubia Z70 Ultra is the company's first device to feature the Nebula AIOS interface, a voice-controlled AI operating system, and Android 15. It features a mode that simplifies interactions with smart assistants and translation that brings convenience to everyday use.
In partnership with China Telecom, nubia is integrating a large model that brings support for natural language, voice, and image recognition. This enables advanced features such as multi-language conference translation and AI-enhanced photography.
