Sony Announces PlayStation's First Wireless Fight Stick: FlexStrike Launching in 2026

Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially announced its Project Defiant, now named FlexStrike, as PlayStation's first wireless fight stick. The product is slated for release in 2026.

The FlexStrike wireless fight stick will be showcased at Evo 2025 in Las Vegas from August 1st to 3rd. Attendees can view the product at the Fighting Stick Museum and Arc System Works booth.

As revealed at the State of Play event in June 2025, FlexStrike emphasizes wireless connectivity and professional-grade features. It supports wired connections to PS5 or PC and utilizes Sony’s ultra-low latency wireless technology, PlayStation Link. Key design elements include:

  • Mechanical Buttons and Tool-Free Modification: Equipped with mechanical switch buttons, it allows tool-free replacement of square, circular, and octagonal restrictor gates to adjust joystick operation. These accessories can be stored in the stick's built-in storage compartment, along with the included PS Link USB adapter.
  • Portability: Includes a portable shoulder bag for easy transport of the stick and all components, such as the USB-C cable, to fighting game tournaments or friends' houses.
  • Built-in Rechargeable Battery: Eliminates the need for external power, ensuring it's always ready for battle.

In addition to these core features, FlexStrike offers several practical functionalities tailored for fighting games:

  • PlayStation Link Audio: PS5 users can simultaneously connect FlexStrike and Pulse Elite/Pulse Explore wireless headphones via a single PS Link USB adapter for ultra-low latency audio and voice chat.
  • Upgraded PS Link Adapter: Features a USB-C compatible PlayStation Link USB adapter for broader device compatibility.
  • Dual Stick Connection: PS5 players can connect two FlexStrike sticks via a single PS Link USB adapter for couch-based versus or co-op play.
  • Ergonomics and Durability: Features a unique ergonomic design with a comfortable inclined surface and non-slip base for stability. Equipped with a high-quality custom digital joystick to enhance operational precision.
  • DualSense Compatibility: Allows simultaneous connection of a DualSense wireless controller on PS5, facilitating menu navigation between matches.
  • Adjustable Controls and Anti-Accidental Touch: Offers the same game control inputs as the DualSense controller, plus a touchpad. Supports directional input switching via a built-in joystick mode switch and accidental operation prevention via a dedicated lock button.
  • PS Button Wake-Up Function: When only FlexStrike is connected, quickly pressing the PS button wakes the synced PS5 console.
