THIRDREALITY Launches MK1: A Mechanical Keyboard That Doubles as a Smart Home Controller
THIRDREALITY, a smart home technology company, has recently unveiled the MK1—a unique mechanical keyboard that also functions as a Matter protocol smart home controller. This innovative device was first showcased at CES earlier this year and has now officially hit the market, priced at $79.99.

The MK1 features an 87-key TKL (Tenkeyless) layout, which is a popular choice for those who prefer a more compact keyboard without the numeric keypad. It is equipped with unbranded yellow switches, which are known for their tactile feedback, making typing both efficient and enjoyable. The keyboard also includes adjustable ergonomic footrests for added comfort during extended use and connects via a wired USB connection for stable performance.
One of the standout features of the MK1 is its integration with the Matter protocol over Wi-Fi (2.4GHz). This allows it to seamlessly connect with various smart home ecosystems, including Apple Home, SmartThings, and Home Assistant. Users can control their smart home devices directly from the keyboard without needing to rely on voice assistants or separate apps (though a standalone Matter gateway is still required).
To facilitate smart home control, the MK1 has a context menu key located between the right Fn and right Ctrl keys. This key, when combined with the F1 to F12 keys, enables users to easily manage their smart home devices right from their desktop. Additionally, the keyboard boasts 44 preset backlighting options, adding a touch of customization and aesthetic appeal.

This dual-purpose keyboard is not only a practical tool for typing but also a convenient and stylish way to manage your smart home environment. THIRDREALITY's MK1 is a great example of how technology can be both functional and integrated into everyday life.
