The Monopoly Board Game Is Getting Its Own Movie 

Actress Margot Robbie, known for her work in Barbie Land, is now tackling the world of Monopoly. Her company, LuckyChap, along with partners Tom Ackerley and Josie McNamara, will produce a live-action movie based on the popular board game, with support from Hasbro Entertainment. 

Lionsgate, which acquired the rights to Monopoly through its purchase of eOne, sees potential in the project, given the game’s global popularity spanning nearly a century. While it’s unclear how they’ll turn a board game into a narrative, The Hollywood Reporter believes that LuckyChap’s success with “Barbie” makes them a fitting choice for the challenge.

Intel Is Bringing Us New AI Chips to Challenge Nvidia Dominance 

At this week’s Intel Vision 2024 conference, the company showed off its new Gaudi 3 AI chips, which are reportedly faster and more efficient than the ones recently released by Nvidia. This is a big deal because they’re set to be cheaper too.

The industry believes Intel made a smart move by acquiring the company that develops these chips a few years back. Under the new leadership of CEO Pat Gelsinger, Intel is making strides to catch up in the AI race, and these new chips are a big part of that plan.

European Human Rights Court Rules That Climate Change Violates Human Rights 

The European Court of Human Rights recently made a groundbreaking decision stating that government inaction on climate change violates fundamental human rights. This is a significant ruling because it’s the first time any court has taken such a stance on the global climate crisis.

The case was brought forth by a group of elderly Swiss women who were concerned about the effects of global warming on their health. They argued that the Swiss government isn’t doing enough to address climate change. The court ruled that the group’s rights under Article 8 (the right to respect for private and family life) and unanimously under Article 6 (the right to a fair trial) were violated. The ruling will set the precedent in future cases.

Open AI Releases an Improved ChatGPT-4 Turbo

OpenAI has upgraded its GPT-4-Turbo AI model, making it better at understanding and responding to information. The update includes technology for analyzing videos, images, and audio. The technology is currently only available for developers, but it’s coming to all ChatGPT users soon. 

This is the first time third-party developers can use GPT-4-Turbo with vision technology, which could lead to cool new apps in fashion, coding, and gaming. The model is also now equipped with information up to December 2023, giving more recent data than before.

Microsoft Plans to Launch an AI Hub in London 

Microsoft is seeking talented individuals to work in the new London hub they’re opening. The hub, which will be based out of Microsoft's offices in Paddington, will be focused on developing AI products and conducting AI research for Microsoft. 

Microsoft recently announced a new AI team led by Mustafa Suleyman, a co-founder of DeepMind, a company that’s now part of Google. Suleyman says the hub will do important work to improve language models and create better tools for AI.

The Judge Heading the Apple Antitrust Case Faces Recusal

The judge overseeing the antitrust lawsuit against Apple, Michael Farbiarz, has stepped down from the case citing a possible conflict of interest. Judge Julien Neals of New Jersey will now be stepping in. Both judges were appointed by President Joe Biden and have a background in public service.

With Judge Neals in charge, the Department of Justice’s case against Apple continues as the DOJ tries to challenge Apple’s dominance in the smartphone market.

Could the Apple Watch Be Joining the Mobile Gaming Market?

Following Apple’s surprising decision to make emulators available on the App Store, there’s new gaming avenues to be explored, and a Reddit user just raised the bar of possibilities. A Redditor named R3V3RB_7 recently shared a video demonstrating a game running on a $35 knock-off Apple Watch that uses Android OS.

There are currently no emulators available for the Apple Watch on the App Store, but as  a result of R3V3RB_7’s tinkering, developers could soon begin to introduce emulators for the Apple Watch. However, the technology may still be a long way away.
