Apple Smart Glasses and AirPods With Camera in 2027 - Cheaper Vision Still Costs $2000, Bloomberg
Apple is researching many different projects, and most will never get beyond the experimental stage. Bloomberg claims to have learned that two such projects have left the experimental phase and that Apple is working towards a specific release date in or after 2027. The company hopes to be able to draw on some of the Vision Pro's technological developments.
Smart Glasses
Meta, formerly Facebook, is currently having success on the market with its own smart glasses: These do not have integrated screens, but do have cameras, speakers, and microphones that allow access to AI assistants. Furthermore, glasses of this type are not overly expensive at around 300 euros.
It has long been known that Apple is also researching smart glasses - and Bloomberg now claims to have learned that Apple is currently planning to bring such a product onto the market in or after 2027. These, similar to Meta's current models, will also do without screens and mainly provide access to Apple Intelligence. According to Bloomberg, the problem here is that Apple is lagging behind the competition in this market - and in 2027 there will already be further iterations of the competition with new features on the market.
AirPods with cameras
According to Bloomberg, Apple is also planning to equip the next generation of AirPods with cameras in 2027. However, these are probably not intended for taking pictures but rather allow Apple Intelligence to actively perceive the environment and answer questions about it.
Vision Pro: cheaper version in 2025, new high-end model in 2026
The Apple Vision Pro is definitely not a resounding success on the market - and one of the reasons is the high price. According to Bloomberg, Apple will probably bring a cheaper version onto the market next year, but it will still cost around $2,000. It remains to be seen whether this price can convince more people to buy the Apple headset. According to some reports, Apple will do without the "EyeSight" front display, use cheaper materials, and install screens with a lower resolution.
The company will not revise the flagship of the Vision series until 2026 - and will probably focus largely on the processor. Given the high resolution of 2x4 K, the currently installed M2 chip is definitely not boring. A faster chip with a better GPU could make it possible to render even more complex 3D scenes in real-time.
