GoPro MISSION 1 PRO Debuts 8K60 Dive Capture at $779.99
The GoPro MISSION 1 PRO has been unveiled at DEMA Show 2026 as part of a $779.99 dive bundle aimed at scuba divers, freedivers, and ocean videographers. Its standout upgrade is a 1-inch image sensor capable of recording video up to 8K60 with dedicated underwater color tuning. However, reaching its maximum 196-foot depth rating requires strapping on an external protective housing rather than relying on bare-camera waterproofing.
MISSION 1 PRO Hardware and Underwater Optics
Designed specifically to handle the demanding lighting conditions beneath the surface, the MISSION 1 PRO pairs its large 1-inch sensor with enhanced low-light performance to resolve fine detail across reefs, marine life, and deep underwater terrain. The camera supports resolutions up to 8K at 60 frames per second, giving underwater shooters significant flexibility for reframing and slow-motion playback.
To solve common color distortion issues encountered at depth, GoPro incorporated a dedicated Dive Mode among the camera's 13 intelligent capture presets. This mode automatically compensates for underwater color cast and reduces visual noise without requiring physical red filters. When paired with the rated 196-foot (60-meter) Protective Housing and included anti-fog inserts, the system maintains lens clarity during prolonged descents. Divers can also pair the setup with a new 40-inch carbon fiber extension pole to capture wider angles around underwater structures.

DEMA Show Bundle and Accessory Package
At DEMA Show 2026 in New Orleans, GoPro is offering an exclusive show package for $779.99. The package includes the MISSION 1 PRO camera body, a dual battery charger to keep a backup pack ready between surface intervals, a free 60-meter dive housing, and enrollment in a PADI Distinctive Specialty course centered on underwater image capture and editing via the GoPro Quik app.
Global Diver Training with PADI and SSI
Beyond hardware, GoPro is expanding its footprint in diver education through formal partnerships with major certification agencies. With PADI, the company is conducting hands-on Instructor Programs and Distinctive Specialty sessions at DEMA Show, open to certified divers, freedivers, snorkelers, and mermaids.
Simultaneously, GoPro announced a long-term collaboration with Scuba Schools International (SSI). Under the initiative, GoPro will develop specialized content, technique tutorials, and camera operation modules, while SSI will oversee instructional design, curriculum standards, and global distribution through its worldwide instructor and dive shop network.
Curated Travel via GoPro Escapes
GoPro also detailed its GoPro Escapes program, offering multi-day, small-group dive trips led by GoPro Athletes, underwater creators, and local dive guides. The curated excursions focus on marine conservation, high visibility, and wildlife encounters, with upcoming itineraries expanding to Cozumel, the Galapagos Islands, and Key Largo.
For divers who regularly shoot underwater video, does an integrated 8K60 1-inch sensor provide enough dynamic range to replace larger compact camera rigs on your dives, or does battery life remain your primary concern?
