MWC2023: What to Expect
The Mobile World Congress (MWC), which is one of the largest tech events in the world, is upon us and tech enthusiasts around the world are gearing up for the biggest showcase of what the industry has to offer in 2023. The themes for this year include 5G, Fintech, OpenNet and Cloud Tech, all of which are the hottest topics in the industry now. This year’s edition in Barcelona is expected to be bigger than last year’s edition, which was hampered by Covid 19 restrictions.
Although the highlight of the meet is always product releases by the world’s major brands like Samsung and Huawei among others, it is also a chance for industry leaders and stakeholders to interact, share ideas, chart a way forward for the industry as well meet potential customers. The organizers are expecting up to 80,000 visitors this year from 200 countries around the world, as well as more than 2000 exhibitors at the event.
Industry observers expect an array of products to be unveiled this year, from smartphones, VR devices, software and much more. Here at Heyup, we pride ourselves on keeping you in the know, with the latest updates from major players in the industry which is why we have curated a list of the most exciting products to look out for at this year’s premier mobile tech convention.
Xiaomi
The Chinese tech giant is expected to reveal a range of highly anticipated products which include the Xiaomi 13 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which comes equipped with a 1-inch camera. Another offering that is expected from the company is the Xiaomi 13 Lite which is the company’s introduction of the “dynamic island” a feature that has proved to be a hit with consumers. The latter comes equipped with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.
OnePlus
As one of the major players in the industry, OnePlus has built a legacy of delivering masterpieces and it comes as no surprise that consumers are eagerly anticipating the unveiling of the company’s latest offering, the OnePlus 11 Concept at this year’s MWC. The company is keeping its cards close to the chest regarding this one and although there is a lot of speculation floating around regarding specs, we will have to wait and see what kind of surprises the company has in store.
Samsung
As one of the most respected players in the industry, it is safe to say that any announcement from Samsung is bound to get noticed by all industry stakeholders. Although the company already announced their latest smartphones prior to the congress, they are expected to have these on display, which will give consumers a home hands-on experience with the devices. They will also showcase the latest 5G technologies that the company is developing
Nubia
One of the most highly anticipated announcements at this year’s edition of MWC in Barcelona is Nubia’s plan to unveil their VR glasses Nubia Neovision Glass which is a great leap for the company. Having announced their AR smart glasses by the same name earlier in the year, the company is attempting to break into the VR market that is already home to players like TCL, Nreal, INMO among others. The industry is still relatively young, and we will keep an eye on the company to see if it is successful in making waves and disrupting the industry with this product.
The congress is bound to be a treasure trove for tech lovers, as they will not only get to interact with like-minded people but also get a sneak peek into the future of the industry. It is also a chance to try out pre-market concept products before they go into mass production, and talk about bragging rights!
This year’s edition is expected to be bigger in scope, both in terms of participants, as well as products on offer, with lots of guaranteed talking points that everyone in the industry will be dissecting and going over for months to come.
