Realme 16 Pro Series Rumored for January 2026 Launch, Pro+ Model to Feature Periscope Telephoto Lens

According to a recent leak from industry insider Sanju Choudhary, smartphone enthusiasts may have a new contender to look forward to. The Realme 16 Pro series is reportedly set to launch in India on January 6, 2026, with the lineup expected to feature two models: the Realme 16 Pro and the Realme 16 Pro+.

Building on this leak, reports from GizChina highlight a significant upgrade for the top-tier Realme 16 Pro+. The device is expected to come equipped with a periscope telephoto lens. This advanced camera technology would allow for high-quality optical zoom without increasing the phone's overall thickness, making it easier to capture clear, distant subjects.

The camera system isn't the only area seeing a major boost. The series is rumored to feature a 200MP main sensor, a substantial leap from the 50MP camera on the Realme 15 Pro. Complementing the camera is a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a smooth 144Hz high refresh rate. Furthermore, the devices are anticipated to house a massive 7000mAh battery, promising extended usage times.

In terms of configuration, the base model Realme 16 Pro is expected to start with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Pro+ version will likely offer higher memory and storage options. The series is also said to be available in several new colorways, including gray, gold, and purple, offering users more aesthetic choices.

Adding credibility to these rumors, a Realme device with the model number RMX5121 has already passed China's MIIT certification. This certified device features a rated battery capacity of 6830mAh (which can be marketed as a typical value of 7000mAh) while maintaining a slim profile of 7.75mm and a weight of 192 grams. This device is widely believed to be the upcoming Realme 16 Pro.
