RedMagic 11 Air Hands-On: The Fan and Transparent Design Make a Triumphant Return

Just before the new year, RedMagic's lightweight Air series has received an update with the launch of the RedMagic 11 Air, a device that incorporates more of the brand's signature design elements.

The most significant change is the exterior, as the RedMagic 11 Air moves from a simple, silky frosted finish back to the brand's iconic transparent design. RedMagic has employed a custom curved glass back, which gives the device a fuller, more premium feel while improving grip and comfort. Beneath the smooth transparent panel, neat textures resembling racetracks and circuit board traces emphasize a sense of mechanical precision. A circular element in the top-right corner, housing the RedMagic logo, pays homage to vinyl records. The camera lenses are arranged vertically without a distinct module, and RGB lights are placed under the transparent back, including the logo and fan area, which produce different lighting effects for gaming, notifications, and charging.

The phone is available in three colors: Star White, Aurora Silver, and the Quantum Black model reviewed here. The Quantum Black version features a finely matted metal frame with a button layout that's slightly simpler than the standard RedMagic 11. The right side houses the gaming shoulder triggers, power button, and volume keys. The left side retains the dedicated red multi-function button, which defaults to launching the game space but can be customized. However, due to the phone's slim profile, the shoulder triggers are positioned near the edge, which can sometimes lead to a less comfortable, arched-finger grip. Following the trend of the RedMagic 10 Air, the 11 Air also omits the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The front features a 6.85-inch 1.5K 144Hz Wukong Screen. Thanks to under-display camera technology and ultra-narrow 1.25mm bezels, it achieves an impressive 95.1% screen-to-body ratio. The BOE Q10 panel reaches a peak brightness of 1800 nits and supports 2592Hz PWM + DC dimming for eye comfort. For gaming, it offers a 144Hz refresh rate, a 960Hz global touch sampling rate, and an instantaneous 2000Hz rate, with native 144Hz support for a growing list of popular titles.

Crucially, the RedMagic 11 Air is the first in the Air series to feature a built-in Yufeng 4.0 cooling fan. Combined with an updated, extra-thick VC, this significantly boosts thermal performance, allowing for stable 60fps gameplay even in the PC emulator. The battery has also been upgraded to a massive 7000mAh capacity, supported by 120W Magic Flash fast charging. It also introduces bypass charging, which powers the phone directly during gameplay to reduce heat. A full 0-100% charge takes 59 minutes with the official charger. The camera system includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a respectable setup for a gaming-focused device. The RedMagic 11 Air is available in two configurations: 12GB+256GB and 16GB+512GB.
