RTX 5080 24GB faces launch delay beyond January 2027
The RTX 5080 24GB graphics card is unlikely to arrive in January 2027 as anticipated, facing extended production schedules that will keep high-end gamers and workstation creators waiting. While the high-capacity 24GB memory buffer represents the primary upgrade over standard configurations, board partners remain stalled because NVIDIA has not yet distributed essential engineering resources.
Supply Chain Constraints Stall AIC Partner Development
Supply chain sources report that as of late October 2026, NVIDIA had still not delivered the required design documentation kits to downstream add-in card (AIC) partners. Without these critical design guidelines, manufacturers cannot finalize board layouts, thermal assemblies, or electrical routing for their custom retail designs.

Component Shortages and Revised Release Timelines
Compounding the absence of engineering kits are ongoing procurement bottlenecks across the supply ecosystem. Severe component shortages and tight PCB substrate availability make a retail rollout in January 2027 virtually unattainable for card manufacturers.
Industry observers note that while physical retail availability will slip, NVIDIA could still preview or unveil the 24GB variant during CES 2027, deferring broad commercial shipments until later in the year once production pipelines stabilize.
Would you delay your next graphics card upgrade to wait for the 24GB RTX 5080, or are current high-tier memory configurations sufficient for your workload?
