Xiaomi 18 Fold Official Images Reveal a Compact “Mid-Fold” Design
Xiaomi has shared official images of the Xiaomi 18 Fold, giving the clearest look yet at its upcoming foldable phone before the company’s September 7 launch event.
The device introduces what Xiaomi calls a new “mid-fold” form factor. Based on the company’s preview, the idea is to sit somewhere between a traditional book-style foldable and a smaller compact foldable, with a shape that aims to balance pocketability and a larger inner display.

A New Foldable Shape for Xiaomi
The Xiaomi 18 Fold features a narrow, symmetrical-bezel front design with large rounded corners. Xiaomi is describing the look as elegant and clean, but the more important point is practical: the phone appears designed to feel smaller when closed while still opening into a wider screen experience.
According to earlier official preview material, the Xiaomi 18 Fold has a 5.38-inch outer display and a 7.58-inch inner display. That makes it different from many large foldables, which often feel close to a regular flagship phone when closed and tablet-like when opened.

Xiaomi seems to be aiming for a more compact closed size without giving up the usefulness of an unfolded screen.
Xiye Red and a New Camera Layout
The first color shown by Xiaomi is called Xiye Red, a new finish inspired by autumn landscapes. The company describes the color as restrained but eye-catching.
On the back, the Xiaomi 18 Fold uses a horizontal racetrack-style camera module. The official images show a cleaner, more linear design compared with the square camera islands often seen on Xiaomi’s standard flagship phones.
The side frame also appears flat and wrapped around the body, giving the phone a sharper and more structured look.
Positioned as Xiaomi’s Top Flagship
Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing has described the Xiaomi 18 Fold as more than just another version of the company’s digital flagship lineup. According to Lu, the device is positioned as the highest-end model in the Xiaomi 18 series and is meant to deliver a complete flagship experience, not just an experimental foldable design.
Xiaomi has also confirmed that the phone will debut at its autumn flagship launch event on September 7 at 7 PM Beijing time. The same event is expected to include the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max and other new products.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold is also expected to debut with Xiaomi’s new Xring O3 AI flagship processor, though full performance, battery, camera, and software details have not yet been fully announced.
Would you prefer a compact “mid-fold” phone like the Xiaomi 18 Fold, or do you still prefer larger book-style foldables?
