Waveshare Unveils 7-Inch Circular Touch Display with 1080x1080 Resolution and 800 Nits Brightness

Waveshare has officially launched a new 7-inch circular touch panel, a specialized display component designed primarily for smart home applications, in-car entertainment systems, and other embedded Human-Machine Interface (HMI) devices.

This unique display boasts a square 1080x1080 resolution on its circular IPS panel, delivering sharp and clear visuals. It features a wide 160-degree viewing angle and an impressive peak brightness of 800 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even in well-lit environments. The panel supports responsive 10-point multi-touch, providing a modern and intuitive user experience.

In terms of construction, the display is built for durability and optical clarity. It is protected by a layer of 6H tempered glass and utilizes full lamination technology. This advanced manufacturing process helps to significantly reduce reflections while simultaneously improving dust resistance, screen transparency, and overall robustness.

The rear PCB of the display is thoughtfully designed for integration, featuring a variety of mounting holes and interfaces that allow for the direct installation of a Raspberry Pi. Connectivity options are comprehensive, including a standard HDMI input for video, dual USB-C ports (one for power and one for touch input), a 3.5mm audio output jack, and a 4-pin speaker interface.

Compatibility is a key strength of this panel. It offers driver-free support for popular development platforms like Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA Jetson, as well as for standard Windows computers. However, it's important to note that when used with operating systems such as Ubuntu, Kali Linux, or Windows 10 IoT, the touch functionality is limited to single-point touch.
